Going to Prom

I go to a very small Christian school, and when I say small, I mean I know everybody’s full name and what everyone likes to do for fun or what they hate. However, unlike most small schools we actually do have a prom but its all of high school so not many people go. One of my friends from a bible study I do asked me to go to his prom with him so I was much more excited to go to his huge public school prom.

I would say I’m a pretty simple person, I had no clue what I wanted for my dress but this one was definitely more glitz than I had imagined but I ended up loving it the moment I tried it on.

I did my makeup myself because I’m not terrible at it and didn’t really want to pay to get someone else to do it. I started with a primer and covered my whole face, went in with a very thick foundation, concealer and highlighter. I used a powder on top and then went over the powder with highlighter again, bronzer and blush. I used a pencil to draw in my eyebrows since I have very blonde eyebrows. I use a stick eyeliner because no matter how hard I try I can never master the liquid or gel liner. I used the urban decay eyeshadow and my mascara. (See tips for getting longer lashes here)

I did however go actually get my hair done since I can barely even curly my hair myself and I loved how it turned out.

I Went to Texas!

Spring break arrived for me as it comes for every student, the anticipation that came with the weeks before brought me into an exciting trip to Texas. I live in NC, so I took a plane, which was very bumpy due to very stormy weather. I didn’t think it could have been possible that I had a blast just touring schools, but even 1,204 miles away from my beloved home I had an exciting and very busy week!

Just a few candles I thought about getting at Magnolia market place!

My family actually bonds over the popular HGTV show, Fixer Upper, hosted by this adorable couple, Chip, and Joanna. I suggest you all watch it, and if you’re ever in Texas swing by their market, even if you aren’t into beautiful home decor, the atmosphere was great. They completed the community-like market with green grass in the back, music some nights, a garden and even a line of food trucks! (If you do, try the crepe one! Yum!!)

If you are in Waco at any point and enjoy the popular pop, Dr Pepper, the museum is right around the corner from Magnolia Markets!

Screen Shot 2016-04-04 at 4.43.12 PM.pngI fell in love with Dallas! I didn’t have an official tour at SMU, but I did drive through the campus, which was beautiful, and stopped at the George W. Bush Library! Even if you’re not a huge history person, I think it’s worth a visit, it’s packed out with information but it’s not boring information, you can “vote” on what you think about particular issues, or get your picture made into a campaigning “ad.” I totally enjoyed this part of Dallas Texas.

After leaving the amazing TCU, we stopped at the Fort Worth Stockade. This was a little 1800’s cowboys in the west movie. It was super cute and reenacted the bringing in of cows.

Verse of the Week

James 1:2-4:  Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Have a fabulous,

I Started Drinking Water Everyday…

Water, it’s what our body is made up of and yet we deprive ourselves of it so often. Why drink water when you can drink lemonade, a diet Pepsi, or a Starbucks drink? I think most everybody hears that drinking water is overall the best thing for you, but why is it and what does it do? My mom drinks water all the time and talks about how great it is for you, but I usually just say ok blah blah. I got a bad cold a few weeks ago and was just feeling super groggy, so I took some lemon water to school to drink throughout the day and what do you know? Before lunch even hit I was already feeling more human and less zombie. There are tons of benefits (and maybe some cons) about always drinking water.

  • Pro: You honestly feel more awake, I wasn’t expecting it at all. However, it happens!
  • Pro: Your skin will thank you 101 times or more. I didn’t even think about my acne before I started drinking water but I rarely even get a zit now. (and when I do I even sweated a whole lot that day with makeup on or didn’t drink water!) AND I feel like I always have a glow when I drink water, it seems more smooth as well.
  • Con: I am always thirsty… the more I drink, the less I can go without water. I was actually at school the other day, and I texted my mom asking me to bring back my water bottle I left in the car because I was already thirsty. (She had barely left the parking lot)

I think despite being thirsty more often its beneficial to be constantly drinking water, it just helps keep you hydrated, looking young, and taking care of yourself!

Verse of the Week

Isaiah 40:29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

Have a fab week!

But Only 2 Democrats!

The Republicans said goodbye to Jeb Bush last night as he decided to drop out of the race. While the Republicans have narrowed down the nominees to five, the Democrats have had just two runners for a while now. Last week I did a post about the Republican choices, and now, as I promised, is time for the Democrats summed up! I hope this helps.

Sanders: Sanders, unlike the Republicans we talked about last week wants to open up the border. He plans on making a stronger immigration reform than Obama has. Senator Sanders has said that abortion is between the woman carrying the baby and her doctor; he refuses to shut down any clinic or make any laws against letting women do what they want with their bodies. According to his Twitter, Sanders has said that the attempt by Republicans to shut down planned parenthood is attacking women’s health. Sanders wants to ban semi-automatic assault weapons, as they are used primarily to kill other humans. He says he plans to enforce and strengthen the background checks before purchasing a gun. Bernie Sanders wants peace; he thinks a nation’s power should not be in how many wars they engage in, but rather how many conflicts they can resolve. He has pointed out many times that he voted against the war in Iraq and thought it was misguided. Bernie has said that it is time bigger corporations and the wealthier start paying their share of taxes.

Clinton: Hillary stated that Immigrants are vital to our economy, and anybody who wishes should have an easy path to citizenship. Hillary said that abortion is fine… until the third trimester, and then abortion should be for medical reasons only. She plans to support what women want to do with their bodies as well supporting planned parenthood. When asked about gun control Hillary Clinton says she wants extensive background checks to prevent criminals and mentally ill from getting the guns. Clinton says we should treat Iraq as a business deal, and we should be able to deploy more military in the air and on the ground as Syrians get ready to fight. Hillary, wife of former president Bill Clinton said that it was time middle class get a break and let the wealthy be taxed the way they should.

Alright, that was just a quick summary of the Democratic candidates. I hope this information I’ve gathered from class discussions and watching the debates helps. Another good source of information is to type in (candidates name) on the issues. If you type that into google it comes up with a compilation of sources that you can scroll through at the top of the pages, it is helpful as well! If you want to know about the Republican candidates I wrote an article last week so just scroll down!
